Robotics and App development

7th Feb 2019

Megan McParland is a Year 13 student who aims to study Computer Science at university. Keeping this in mind, Megan availed of the opportunity to take part in a two-day ICT workshop at the Magee Campus of Ulster University. Over the course of the two days Megan used state of the art technology and focused on two topics; Robotics and App Development. On the first day Megan helped built a robotic car from Lego and programmed it to drive around a course. In Megan’s words ‘It was extremely fun and rewarding and it made me interested to know more about robotics’. On the second day Megan focused on App development, where she decided on an App idea, created it and make the App come to life. Megan found the App development really intriguing as she thought it would take months to create an App, when in fact it takes no more than an hour. At the end of the two days Megan’s group was chosen as the overall winners. Megan said she learned so much and would highly recommend this workshop for anyone who is even slightly interested in technology or studying computing in the future.
