Pupils attend careers fair in Armagh City Hotel

25th Jan 2013

On Wednesday 23rd January, all Year 10 and Year 12 pupils attended a jobs and careers fair organised jointly by the Heads of Careers in the schools in the Armagh Learning Community.  The event was hosted at the Armagh City Hotel.  The event gave businesses and employers the opportunity to capture the imagination of our pupils and show them the opportunities open to them.   At a time of recession, many businesses are not recruiting, but the Government predict that Agriculture, Food, Science, Technology, ICT, Engineering and Maths related jobs will see a growth in demand in the future in NI.  The exhibitors at the Careers Fair all had an Agri-food or STEM link.

Year 10 and Year 12 pupils were chosen to attend as they are both at an important transition stage in their education with Year 10 pupils embarking on GCSE subject choice, while Year 12 pupils are choosing A level or Further Education options.

We are indebted to the exhibitors which included local businesses as well as those who travelled from all over NI, England the Republic.
